Mixed messages from Matthew

Matthew claims he loves his baby sister, and he's always giving her hugs and kisses and pats her little head. He even runs to her when she's crying and says "it's OK Maya, Matthew's coming". Awww!

When it comes to bathtime it's a different story. I try to bath them both in the tub together and I guess he's not used to sharing the space and will just push her baby tub out of the way so he can get to the other end of the tub. One time he stood up, grabbed his penis and leaned over her and almost peed on her! LOL! I caught him just in time and told him not to do that. Thank God he's old enough to hold it back now otherwise she would've been showered. And of course Maya had no idea what was going on. Her brother was trying to pee on her and she just kept smiling and splashing like it was no big deal. Then another time he filled up one of his buckets with the bathwater and before I could turn my head back to see what was going on, he'd poured it all over her head! That one she didn't appreciate too much.

Maybe he's just testing the limits here, or maybe he's getting all these tricks in before she's big enough to retaliate. Now comes the big dilemma; should I tell her so she can get even? Hee hee, it could be fun!

Princess Sip-n-Sleep

Just like a girly-girl, Maya doesn't "eat" she "nibbles". Or rather she "sips" since her diet is only liquid. Matthew was a guzzler; he'd down 6 oz of formula in less than 10 minutes, whereas Maya takes 20 minutes to drink 2 ounces and then falls asleep and refuses to eat any more. Then she's up again in 45 minutes screaming for more food. Then there are those times when she only wants a drink, and wakes me up in the middle of the night to make a full bottle and only takes in half an ounce. Oh I love that!

Last night she was up at 2 am, 5 am, and this morning at 8:30 am and the most she took at each feeding was 3 ounces. Grrrr! Just when she was deciding to sleep for 7 to 10 hours at night she goes and does this! So I thought when she took in 3 ounces by 9:30 this morning that I could check some emails and then take a nap. No sooner did I log off IM she woke up! And only drank 2 ounces. Now she's asleep again and I can't force any more formula into her belly. Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!

I don't care that she's only 6 weeks old; I'm getting even! I'll let her take a nap for now, just long enough for me to workout and take a quick shower and then I'm making sure she's up for the rest of the day. Let's see how she likes it! LOL! If she starts falling asleep I'll change her bum, wipe her face with a cold wipe (she HATES that!), strip her right down to nothing, tickle every single tickle spot she has, or put her on her tummy (which she also hates with a passion); anything to keep her awake. If Mommy can't nap then neither can Maya.

Let the battle begin. ;)

Zero tolerance policy gone too far?

I was burping Maya the other day when of course, Matthew had to come over and check out what I was doing. He looks at me puzzled, then with a little disappointed look on his face and says "Mommy that's hitting. You're hitting Maya". I explained to him that I was burping her, not hitting, and Daddy told him I was "patting" Maya. I don't think he bought it though.

Better than a timeout chair or naughty mat!

http://www.mom4life.com/catalog.php?item=464&new=yes&ret=catalog.php%3Fnew%3Dyes

LOL I think we should try this! We have no place to put Matthew when he's being bad; why not just hang him on the wall? We can keep an eye on him, he won't have any toys he can play with so it'll be a real punishment, and he won't be taking up any floor space! Or when we take him to a restaurant and he doesn't want to sit in the high chair we can just hang him off the coat hooks on our booth.

This is going on my Christmas list! ;)
